The Microsoft team released the third development update since the release of Flight Simulator. This time the update is more general, we now have the feedback snapshot, a new development roadmap as well as information about the next patch and an SDK update. Moreover, we know the next development update will be out on October 9th. And lastly, we know there are now more than million Microsoft Flight Simulator pilots!
The upcoming patch
Microsoft announced it has advanced in the final testing phase, meaning it will be released by the end of the month. While we do not yet have a patch note, the team announced the patch will be more focused on “in sim” improvements.
Based on feedback and roadmap we can expect update relating to performance issues, loading times, avionics and much more!

At the top reported issues we also find:
- Wind issues: wind aloft being 225° for 3kt
- Live weather issues: lack of accuracy, weather becoming clear mid flight, weather update stopping suddenly, different erros
- Garmin G1000 and 3000 issues: avionics and autopilot related
- Issue with real time traffic
- A320 Autopilot: swaying left and right when on use
- Grainy reflections
- Terrain emitting light at night
- General performance issues
The Microsoft team wants to put an emphasis on their commitment to work with the community. They also thank the community for such a memorable and amazing launch experience.
Development roadmap

The new roadmap extends to November this year. This month we can expect more episodes of their “around the worlds series, as well as their Partnership series. We also can expect successive SDK and Third-Party updates and the next patch for the simulator after September 24th.
SDK Update
This will interest developers and people interested alike. Microsoft identified and fixed many issues related to the world editor. The community is working on an export plugin for blender using the glTF format used by MSFS. On the aircraft side, the legacy XML gauge format is now supported and the webAssembly-based system is being improved. They are also improving the SDK documentation.
They received around 800 partner applications and approved the first ~20. Moreover, they teased an expected 100 new product announcements during the upcoming months.
