After the recent release of Kaunas Airport for Microsoft Flight Simulator, the developer continues to bring smaller international airports of Eastern Europe to life in the simulator. This time, the developer has taken a look at the airport serving Moldova’s capital city, Chisinau.
About Chisinau and Its Airport
For Moldova, Chisinau is the main industrial and commercial centre located in the middle of the country. It has a history in winemaking, dating back to 3000 BC. Even though the city was badly damaged during World War II, there are still a lot of remains of a rich architectural heritage, socialist realism and the famous brutalist architecture.
Chisinau Airport (LUKK) served as the headquarters for Air Moldova, the country’s national airline. The airport opened in 1926 and it got the status of an international airport in the 1990s. However, due to concerns about aviation safety, the airport was closed when the Russian invasion of Ukraine started but reopened a month later.
Currently, the airport is operated by various European carriers like Aegean, Austrian, Eurowings, FlyOne, LOT, Lufthansa, Tarom and Turkish Airlines. Thus, virtual pilots can get to destinations like Athens, Vienna, Baku, Berlin, Tel Aviv, Frankfurt, Istanbul and many more.
About the Scenery
The scenery of Chisinau Airport by MXI Design offers accurate models of the airport buildings and the terminal, which are all placed on an up-to-date airport layout with correct polygons and ground markings. The terminal also offers a basic 3D interior and there is PBR on all the models at the airport.
Speaking of details, there are 3D passengers placed around the scenery and there are also animated flags present. Furthermore, custom aerial imagery surrounds the airport.
If you would like to get this scenery, you can purchase it via Simmarket for €15.59.
