The Orbx team has recently taken to their Facebook page to share some information about the upcoming Gold Coast Airport scenery developed by Matteo Veneziani.

Gold Coast Airport (YBCG) serves the Australian city of Gold Coast located just south of Brisbane in the east coast of the country. The city is well-known as a holiday destination and the airport is the seventh-busiest in the entire country.

The interesting thing about this airport is that the runway cuts through a border of Queensland and New South Wales. This means that during summer the runway cuts through two different time zones. However, it operates in Queensland time all year round (UTC+10).

The airport was known as Coolangatta Airport until 1989 and it originally consisted of grass strips when it was first built in 1936. It was crucial for airmail delivery between Brisbane and Sydney back in the day, and in the 1950s, the runways and taxiways got fully paved.

The terminal went through a terminal expansion last year. Currently, the airport offers destinations across the whole of Oceania and even Asia. There are flights to Kuala Lumpur, Auckland, Christchurch, Albury, Adelaide, Melbourne and much more.

The Orbx’s rendition of Microsoft Flight Simulator should be released very soon. However, it was not exactly mentioned when we might expect the release date. With that, the team also shared a single preview of the airport.

Partially, the feature list was also mentioned, and the scenery should contain detailed ground markings, dynamic lighting, custom taxiway signage and more.

The airport is developed by Matteo Veneziani, who is also responsible for the recent release of Olbia v2 for Microsoft Flight Simulator, which you can read more about here.
