The Orbx team has showcased a new WWII aircraft for Microsoft Flight Simulator, the Grumman TBF Avenger. A short video showed The plane on the developer’s Facebook page.
The Grumman TBF Avenger was developed in cooperation with Paul Bennet, and the aircraft is shown in great detail in the video.
The video starts with the aircraft starting up and progressively moves to all the stages of the flight with this warbird. It shows the Grumman TBF Avenger in its glory in the simulator, with a detailed look at the 3D modelling of both the exterior and interior, as well as texturing and PBR materials.

We can also notice that Orbx has teased some functional features of the aircraft. This includes dynamic wing folding and bomb bay doors, and realistic engine and wind sounds, recorded in the real-life counterpart.
About the Grumman TBF Avenger
The Grumman TBF Avenger was developed by General Motors during World War II and it is a predecessor to the Douglas TBD Devastator. This aircraft was mostly used during fights in the Pacific. It also fought in the Battle of Midway, where it made its debut.
In total, more than 9000 units of this aircraft were manufactured, and it was removed from active duty in the 60s.
The Grumman TBF Avenger could accommodate three pilots, it weighs approximately four and a half metric tonnes and it could fly as fast as 450 kilometres per hour. It mostly carried 7,62 mm machine guns in the front and bottom of the fuselage and 12,7 mm machine guns on the wings and rear of its fuselage.
This aircraft could also carry around 907 kilograms of bombs or a single torpedo unit Bliss-Leavitt Mk. 13.
Whether all of these real things are going to be simulated in the simulator counterpart is a question yet to be disclosed by Orbx, as no official feature list has been made public, yet. The price is not known either, so far.
