Parallel 42 released a statement regarding their future as a developer for flight simulation add-ons. They will now focus fully on developing Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024 add-ons. This means that development and support for Prepar3D (P3D) and Microsoft Flight Simulator X (FSX) add-ons will stop. This announcement coincides with PMDG’s decision to stop the distribution of their products for P3D.
Unlike PMDG, Parallel 42 will not stop selling its older products. The new Legacy Collection by Parallel 42 encapsulates all their previous add-ons for P3D and FSX in a special store section. This collection offers the customer a discounted price on these add-ons. However, they will be sold in their current state with no future updates or active support by Parallel 42.
Parallel 42 Next Steps
Parallel 42 has been a developer of add-ons for P3D and FSX for a couple of years now. They created multiple add-ons that help improve how we fly in a simulator. Moving forward, they are now going to focus only on the creation and support of MSFS 2020 and 2024 add-ons. They stated that the world of flight simulation is evolving and so they need to evolve with it.
During this statement, they look back to what they achieved with their older products. These add-ons are the foundation and identity of what Parallel 42 is now as a developer. They look back proudly on what they accomplished with their P3D and FSX work. To keep their legacy alive, Parallel 42 has created a special section on their store. It is dedicated to all their older add-ons so that people can still enjoy this add-on for P3D and FSX.
The Legacy Collection by Parallel 42
This new collection offers the possibility for new customers to buy Parallel 42 older products for P3D and FSX. Including add-ons like their immersion packages, ChasePlane, or PrecipitFX. These add-ons will now have a discounted price being sold in their latest form. This means that no more updates or support will be pushed for these add-ons by the developer. The only exception is ChasePlane who will still receive support for commercial partners of Parallel 42.
Parallel 42 promises to bring more add-ons that keep pushing what is possible in a flight simulator. They will continue with what they built all these years with the add-ons on their Legacy Collection. You can visit the Legacy Collection on the Parallel 42 web store here.
