PMDG 737-800 for MSFS Releasing in August, Without EFB

PMDG has today confirmed that they want to release their 737-800 for MSFS this August, unfortunately without EFB.

Alongside a video preview, PMDG’s Robert Randazzo has earlier today shared a forum post detailing their most-awaited product of the 737 product line, the 737-800. While previewing the contents of the upcoming update, he also confirmed the release timeframe of the 737-800 for Microsoft Flight Simulator.

Robert announced that the 737-800 will reach beta testers today and is expected to release between August 23rd and August 31rd, 2022.

Airframe variants

It will come with four airframe variants with each two winglet options, thus technically eight variants of the aircraft to fly with in total.

The airframes are:

  • 737-800 (Passenger)
  • 737-800 BBJ2 (Business Jet)
  • 737-800 BCF (Cargo)
  • 737-800 BDSF (Passenger to Cargo Conversion)

Each of the variants will have an authentic soundset, customized flight models and a plethora of options.

EFB

Unfortunately, Robert noted that the EFB won’t be ready upon the initial release of the addon, but instead will undergo testing in the second half of September and is expected to come shortly after.

The fact that testing is expected to start in the second half of September contradicts with the information from last month where Robert confirmed that the testing process has already started. You can read more on that in my previous article by clicking here.

Sunshades & Lights

The good news is that PMDG has prepared a new for all of the 737 variants that allow the user to move the cockpit lights. As Robert explained, this wasn’t possible back in the FSX/P3D days since the lighting model would not allow dynamically moving with the light sources.

Further, the developers have worked on implementing new sunshades. There will be three new sunshade options available to the simmers. These and the controllable lights should come alongside the next update.

As of today, you can purchase the 737-700 and 737-600 through the PMDG’s website for $69.99 and $34.99.
