The Microsoft and Asobo teams have released a new update for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, and Sim Update 3 is now officially available for everyone to use. This update brings a variety of changes to the platform, improving a number of quality-of-life features.
New Features
Starting off with the new features, Microsoft Flight Simulator now offers filters in the controls menu, and when the aircraft is loading, an animated spinner is now visible. The settings for characters, airport graphics and fauna have been reworked as well, meaning that virtual pilots will have more options to improve their graphics experience in the simulator. Lastly, it is also possible to click and drag all the sliders in the game.

Performance and Stability Improvements
The Sim Update 3 also introduces further stability and performance improvements to Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. This includes reduced VRAM consumption, better performance during fast camera movements, and the random live view leak of WASM instruments was also fixed, reducing the VRAM further.
Among the general bugs that have been fixed in this version, we can find the issue with unresponsive map filter buttons, properly applied atmospheric effects to FX particles, invisible city markers and much more.
The team has also worked further on backwards compatibility, fixing the brightness of FX, UV length with reused gITF geometry, which will prevent blurry textures from old Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 models. The loading of bitmaps from old packages was also improved. The team has also worked on fixing and improving various default aircraft, including the A310, the A320neo, the A330, the Beechcraft KingAir 350i and more.

The update is now ready to be downloaded from any platform where the simulator is available. For more details of this update, take a look at the official forum post here.
