Synaptic Simulations Updates A220-300, Adds VDS Terrain, for MSFS

Synaptic Simulations updates its A220-300 for MSFS to v1.0.11 with VSD terrain, FMS fixes, and a terrain server that now requires the Synaptic Toolbox.

Synaptic Simulations has released version 1.0.11 of its A220-300 for Microsoft Flight Simulator. The developer announced the update on their Discord server and apologised for the delay in deploying it. The update is available through iniManager and the Microsoft Flight Simulator Marketplace.

The Airbus A220-300 is a short-to-medium-range narrowbody airliner. It began life as the Bombardier CSeries before Airbus took over the programme and rebranded it. It is known for its modern flight deck and its efficiency on regional and medium-haul routes. Synaptic’s version follows the developer’s earlier work on the aircraft, including the Toolbox companion app and the EFB update we covered previously.

According to Synaptic, the update brings a range of bug fixes, improvements to the autoflight and FMS, and terrain display on the VSD (vertical situation display). The developer does not list the individual fixes in its announcement, but points to its online changelog for the full details.

The terrain addition comes with an important change for existing users. Synaptic says the VSD terrain required non-backwards-compatible changes, so the terrain server distributed through iniManager will no longer work with v1.0.11 and later. To get the correct version, users need to install the Synaptic Toolbox. The developer also says it will no longer distribute the terrain server through iniManager, and describes a self-managed platform as more sustainable and easier to maintain. The team adds that it is improving its infrastructure and deployment pipeline to avoid release problems in future.

The A220-300 v1.0.11 update is available free of charge for existing owners through iniManager and the Marketplace. If you want to purchase the Synaptics A220 for MSFS, you can do so through the iniBuilds Store or the in-game Marketplace for around 60€.
