TaiModels has released Billund Airport for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024, bringing the Danish airport to the simulator. TaiModels has released several airports for the simulator in the past, such as Porto, Singapore Changi and Kansas City.

About Billund Airport

Billund Airport and its history all began in 1961 with the son of the founder of Lego. He established a private 800m long runway with a single hangar. In 1964, the construction of the new airport began, and it opened with one runway at 1660m. The airport is around 3km from Billund by road and not far from LEGOLAND Billund.

The airport handles an average of 3 million passengers a year and millions of pounds of cargo. Its main runway is capable of handling a B747, though most flights arrive and depart on smaller narrowbody aircraft like the B737, A320 and ATR-72. It has quite a lot of regularly operated flights to and from Billund from many airlines such as Air France, British Airways, Finnair and Wizz Air.

TaiModels Billund Airport

TaiModels has faithfully recreated Billund Airport in the simulator with handmade PBR textures and markings based on the latest available layout of the airport. Those PBR textures are applied alongside detailed terminal interiors, terminal buildings, cargo buildings and other airport structures around the airport.

It also includes realistic lighting covering the whole airport for easy night operations. TaiModels have used a custom DEM (Digital Elevation Model), which is a 3D digital representation of the airport, in order to develop the airport on accurate terrain. Performance has been optimised for most system hardware, and a custom GSX profile has been provided for GSX users.

TaiModels Billund Airport is available for both Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024 on the iniBuilds Store and simMarket for €22. You can read up more about previous TaiModels airports and any upcoming releases here on FSNews.
