World Update 22 Brings US National Parks to MSFS 2024

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 World Update 22 will enhance more than 30 US National Parks and introduce the iconic Goodyear Blimp on July 4, 2026.

Microsoft Flight Simulator has officially announced World Update 22: US National Parks during the Xbox Games Showcase 2026. Scheduled for release on July 4, 2026, the free update will enhance more than thirty national parks and monuments across the United States, bringing improved scenery, updated terrain data, and visual upgrades to some of the country’s most iconic natural landmarks.

The newly released trailer showcases a wide variety of breathtaking locations spread across the country, highlighting improved scenery, refined terrain data, and enhanced visual detail. From the towering cliffs of the Grand Canyon to the forests of Yellowstone and the rugged landscapes of Glacier National Park, World Update 22 aims to offer virtual pilots even more reasons to explore the diverse environments that make the United States one of the most popular regions in Microsoft Flight Simulator.

More Than 30 National Parks and Monuments

According to Microsoft, World Update 22 will feature enhancements for more than thirty national parks and monuments. While the complete list of locations has not yet been revealed, the announcement trailer showcased numerous iconic destinations, including Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Grand Canyon National Park, Mount Rushmore National Memorial, Badlands National Park, Grand Teton National Park, Yellowstone National Park, Glacier National Park, North Cascades National Park, Mount Rainier National Park, Crater Lake National Park, Yosemite National Park, Death Valley National Park, Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon National Park, Canyonlands National Park, Great Sand Dunes National Park, Rocky Mountain National Park, and Guadalupe Mountains National Park.

The update continues Microsoft Flight Simulator’s long-running effort to improve the virtual representation of real-world destinations through the use of updated aerial imagery, refined terrain data, and handcrafted points of interest. Based on the footage shown so far, World Update 22 appears set to become one of the largest scenery-focused updates released for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.

Goodyear Blimp Takes Flight

One of the most notable surprises included in the announcement is the arrival of the legendary Goodyear Blimp. The iconic airship was prominently featured throughout the trailer and is expected to become part of the simulator when World Update 22 launches. Inspired by one of the world’s fastest motorsports, the expansion will take players to the skies over New Mexico and introduce a completely different style of flying compared to traditional airline, general aviation, or bush flying operations.

While detailed information regarding aircraft, race formats, and gameplay systems has yet to be revealed, Microsoft confirmed that National Championship Air Racing is scheduled for release in Fall 2026. The announcement suggests that the expansion will provide pilots with a new challenge focused on precision, speed, and competitive flying.
