Welcome to the eighth installment of The Workshop – a series dedicated to the latest news and updates regarding FlyByWire’s work on the A32NX and upcoming A380. Our previous episodes can be read here. The Workshop is written directly by the FlyByWire team within the FSNews and FlyByWire partnership.
New Stable Release
We have released a new stable update, v0.5.2. This version addresses all compatibility issues with the Salty Simulations Boeing 747-8, as well as few MCDU improvements. You can read the full changelog here.
New Installer
We have also released our brand new installer! It comes with an easy way to between the stable, development, and FBW branch, an auto-updater of the installer, and release history. In the future, it will enable us to bring you further A320 variants as well as the A380X.
In The Hangar
Our next episode of “In The Hangar” will be live on Sunday, January 17th, between 19:00z and 20:00z on Twitch and Youtube! Our “In The Hangar” series is a Q&A, answering questions asked by the community, as well as showing progress. Features of the week
Here are the features recently merged to our development branch:
- Fixes to the GO-AROUND performance page on the MCDU
- “ON BAT” light has been added to the ADIRS overhead panel
- Speed/Mach calculations have been overhauled
- Flaps 3 takeoff now works correctly

We have now added new dynamic packs (air conditioning) sounds! Here’s a preview:
printer
We are working on a new feature, the printer! It will enable you to “print” output from the MCDU (such as METAR and ATIS), and save it for later viewing. Here’s a video:
Engine model
We have been working on a completely new engine model simulation for the LEAP-1A. You can take a look at a preview here:
