Black Square has just released version 1.4 of its TBM 850 add-on, bringing full compatibility with Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 alongside a comprehensive set of improvements.
This new version not only introduces environment-specific modeling tailored to MSFS 2024 but also deeper system fidelity, visual refinements, and bug fixes that significantly raise the realism of one of the most popular turboprops in the sim. It expands interactivity, refines avionics behavior, and improves functionality across the board.

New Features
Among the most notable additions is a complete interactive pre-flight and walk-around experience. Pilots can now interact with engine covers, pitot covers, wheel chocks, baggage doors, and handles, supported by a new collision model that reinforces immersion.
System upgrades include a reworked KAS 297B altitude selector with vertical speed arming, and a magnetic compass that now reflects realistic deviations caused by onboard magnetic fields.

Further refinements extend to avionics and the cabin environment. New GTNxi 750 and 650 bezels are supported with improved model switching, while the interior lighting has been completely redesigned for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024
The EFB interface gains three major improvements: an Ear Discomfort Index that visualizes pressure effects, persistence for payload unit settings across sessions, and an option to toggle external registration meshes as a workaround for the simulator’s unresolved dynamic registration bug.
Black Square has also implemented engine-driven fuel pump failures, faster torque indication response, custom toe brake animations and sounds for smoother operation, and a fix to reduce light flare bleed-through.
Bug Fixes
Version 1.4 also addresses critical issues that previously affected reliability. During complete electrical failures, essential variables tied to advanced engine simulation, avionics, sounds, and external hardware would stop updating. This has been corrected to ensure realistic system degradation without disrupting overall simulation flow. The air conditioning system has been fixed to work with ground power, and its cooling capacity now responds properly to turbine speed.

Visual representations of the cooling turbine have been corrected to align with bleed air valve positions, eliminating the inaccurate spin behavior. Fuel system logic has also been improved: the pressure annunciator now behaves realistically and will not extinguish when pumps run without actual pressure, while pump cycling has been corrected to stop when tanks are empty or the fuel selector is off. These adjustments significantly tighten the fidelity of emergency and abnormal scenarios.
About the TBM 850
The TBM 850 is a high-performance single-engine turboprop that combines jet-like speed with the efficiency and versatility of a propeller-driven aircraft. In the real world, it is known for its 320-knot cruise speed, long range, and ability to access smaller airports, making it a popular choice for business and private aviation. The TBM family of aircraft has enjoyed strong commercial success, with over 1,150 aircraft delivered since its introduction, making it one of the best-selling lines of single-engine turboprops for business aviation.

About Black Square
Black Square is recognised for providing the MSFS community with detailed, study-level aircraft featuring advanced systems and realistic avionics. The studio has enhanced default models like the King Air 350i, Bonanza, and Baron with extensive system overhauls, while also developing complete aircraft such as the Beechcraft Duke and the Beechcraft Starship. These releases, both reworks and originals, have made Black Square a respected name among sim pilots seeking study-level fidelity.
The update is free for existing owners and is available immediately. For new customers, the aircraft can be purchased at €35.95 from Just Flight. The product page on the Just Flight store provides full details, and the complete changelog can be found here.
