Contrail Releases the FA50 for MSFS

Contrail launches the Dassault Falcon 50 for MSFS, marking its developer debut with the first Falcon business jet for Microsoft Flight Simulator.

Contrail has officially released its debut aircraft, the Dassault Falcon 50, for MSFS, delivering a moment the community has been anticipating since its reveal at FlightSimExpo 2025. The community has high expectations as this will be the first Falcon released on MSFS.

With the FA50 now cleared for takeoff, Contrail is stepping into a bold new chapter. Contrail moves from being known as a respected curator to a developer with the debut of an aircraft meant to make an impression.

Contrail has worked hard to make its first aircraft release a quality product. The team built the FA50 trijet with high-detail systems, a complex avionics suite, and a cockpit that blends modern capability with the tactile charm of classic instrumentation. Its feature set includes a custom EFB app that is integrated with SimBrief and JetCard, an autopilot system that includes VNAV and VNAV Direct To, and a paperclip chart that is helpful for takeoff as well as landing performance. The flight model, which has been vetted by real FA50 pilots, reinforces the aircraft’s authenticity.

The attention to detail carries into the FA50’s cockpit philosophy. Most modern releases lean heavily into full glass avionics. The FA50 is unique in that it embraces its hybrid heritage. There are modern elements that are paired with traditional steam gauges. This creates a cockpit that has both character and a depth that is unique in flight simulator releases. Contrail also modeled the EFIS upgrade – a digital Collins 85C EFIS paired with a Garmin MX20 MFD and a GNS-XLS Flight Management Computer.

Contrail has confirmed that the MSFS 2020 version will ship with a Lite EFB. It will offer all the essential functions but will omit a few of the advanced features that will be found only in the MSFS 2024 edition. The team also immediately made a note on Discord of a newly discovered bug. “Cockpit Interaction System” should be set to “Lock”. Contrail has noted that the team is reviewing this bug at the time of release.

The release for both MSFS 2020 and MSFS 2024 is loaded with a strong supporting package, including an online manual with full checklists as well as tutorial flights to help get you started. A downloadable Paintkit that is available via the Contrail App. To celebrate the release Contrail is bundling the FA50 with KTEB Teterboro v2 and 25% off KTEB when checking out! The aircraft is available now on the Contrail website for $38.24.
