Emerald Scenery Design took to their Facebook page to announce the release of the Pietenpol Air Camper for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. This is the second aircraft developed by this renowned scenery developer, following the release of the Mini-Max 1500R Sport earlier this year.
About the Aircraft
The Pietenpol Air Camper is a classic two-seat, open-cockpit homebuilt aircraft designed by American aircraft designer Bernard Pietenpol in the late 1920s. The aircraft became especially famous for using a converted Ford Model A automobile engine rather than an expensive aircraft engine. With its high parasol wing, conventional landing gear, and relatively low cruising speed of around 70 mph, the Air Camper is designed more for relaxed, low-and-slow flying than for speed. It became one of the most influential early homebuilt aircraft designs and helped establish Pietenpol as a pioneer of the homebuilt-aircraft movement.
About the Add-On
Emerald Scenery Design’s add-on features a 3D model based on real-world 3D scan data, in both classic and bush wheel variants, along with 14 hand-crafted liveries based on real paint schemes. Additional features include a custom Wwise sound pack, physics-based sounds that include the impulse coupler, slip drag rumble, as well as backfires; custom hand-prop start physics, and physics-based fuel slosh. Additionally, users may use optional features such as engine realism, headphone simulation, hubcaps, prop-spinner, tinted glass, and mounted EFB tablet.
The add-on also features a hand-held communications radio, with a transponder that can be used when flying on virtual networks like VATSIM or IVAO. The version purchased through the in-game Marketplace can also be used in Career Mode.
Emerald Scenery Design’s Pietenpol Air Camper is available for USD 19.99 on the Emerald Scenery Design website and on the Orbx Store. In the following days, the add-on will also be uploaded to the Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 Marketplace with options for a free trial and a three-day rental.
