Just Flight Updates on Iconic Avro Vulcan for MSFS

On the 26th of July, Just Flight published a smaller development update regarding their Avro Vulcan rendition for Microsoft Flight Simulator. The team published this information via their website.

Development Progress Over the Past Few Weeks

Due to the recent release of F28 for Microsoft Flight Simulator, the team was mostly focusing its resources on the Fokker until its release. This slowed down the development of Avro Vulcan a bit, but as the F28 is now released, certain team members are back deployed on other projects, one of which is this famous warbird.

Modelling, Texturing, Liveries

Currently, the team behind modelling and texturing are working hard on fixing bugs, as well as adding new features and customisation options that are going to be present only in the Microsoft Flight Simulator version of the aeroplane. There are still more additions to come, and Just Flight aims to speak about them in a future development update.

Currently, Avro Vulcan includes 18 liveries that will be included upon release. These liveries are in 8K resolution and cover Vulcan’s operators throughout the aeroplane’s life, from the retirement from RAF to Vulcan Display Flight in 1992.

A significant amount of research went into the liveries, resulting in liveries having accurate roundels, squadron logos and equipment configurations. There are also some short-lived liveries included in the package, such as XM607 from the Black Buck missions, or XH562 with a Kiwi-zapped roundel when the aeroplane visited New Zealand.

Avro Vulcan Systems

The aircraft system development has been temporarily halted because of the F28 release. However, Just Flight aims to work on systems of the Avro Vulcan again very soon. Despite that, the majority of systems are already functional, so most of the work is going to be about fine-tuning the code and adding some new features.

Sounds and Flight Model

Regarding the sounds, Just Flight is about to begin working on the iconic sound set of this aeroplane. The team promises to raise the bar for sound quality in the world of Microsoft Flight Simulator.

Speaking of the flight model, work has been constantly progressing with all of Avro Vulcan’s flight characteristics. Just Flight also included the ability to hold the nose wheel off the ground during the landing roll, which provided the aeroplane with aerodynamic breaking.
