Parallel 42 Changes Pricing Model for ChasePlane

After listening to the community, the Parallel 42 team has decided to develop a new approach to ChasePlane’s pricing model. The add-on, which was first released in 2016 for Flight Simulator X (almost 10 years ago), will soon be released for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024.

What is ChasePlane?

ChasePlane is a camera add-on developed by Parallel 42, who are known for developing other releases such as the Juice Goose. The product changes the camera system of the simulator to its own, which includes different kinds of physics-based realistic motion, giving way to a more realistic experience from the pilot’s perspective, making you feel like you are in the cockpit.

New Pricing Approach

Following the ChasePlane announcement for Microsoft Flight Simulator, the developer received multiple feedback regarding its pricing model. The original pricing model, which would allow users to enjoy a free year of ChasePlane, and then continue using it by paying an annual subscription, “didn’t feel right” for some customers.

This is why the team, focused on “adding value, not boundaries,” has simplified the pricing model and added a new option for users to enjoy the product: They will be able to buy ChasePlane once and get everything without limitations, forever. ChasePlane Cloud Backups & Community features will still run on the developer’s Cloud Storage, but everything will be included.

Cloud Storage

The developer is committed to covering cloud storage expenses so that every ChasePlane customer can enjoy free cloud backups and community features, without having to increase the price of the product. After unsuccessfully hosting settings on the Xbox Cloud (given its unreliability), Parallel 42 has built its own cloud system to ensure the integrity of settings, views, and groups. The developer clarifies that these backups are just a convenience, given that everything will still be stored in the user’s local machine.

Closing Notes

ChasePlane is set to be one of the most advanced camera tools for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024. This new pricing approach allows more flexibility for those users who would rather pay a one-time fee to enjoy the product, rather than a subscription.
