This Saturday, Robert Randazzo went into PMDG Forums to share a second development update of this month, going through the progress the development team has done for the past two weeks.

Updates for the 737

Even though there is so much exciting information, especially about the PMDG 777, Robert mainly spoke about the upcoming updates for the 737 lineup. A good amount of information is provided for Xbox users regarding liveries, -600 and -900 versions releases into the Marketplace as well as upcoming bug fixes.

Speaking of the new updates pending for the PC release of the PMDG 737 series, these are now available to the beta team. Even though there seem to be no ground-breaking features in this version, there are back-end changes done to prepare the aeroplane for the final testing of Universal Flight Tablet. This micro-update, as Robert refers to it, should be pushed to the public in the upcoming week.

The 737-600 and 737-900 should be pushed to the Marketplace very soon, as the issues with Marketplace and liveries were resolved. Robert estimates the timeline for release to be before the end of July, together with dedicated liveries.

As we spoke about in our previous coverage of PMDG’s development update, the PMDG team tries to resolve some issues on the Xbox release of the 737, such as randomly spinning knobs in the cockpit and some others. Regarding these issues, there is no estimate of when the fixes will be pushed out. However, they should be made public in a few rapid sequences of micro updates.

PMDG EFB And Its Progress

PMDG’s Universal Flight Tablet is now being prepared for the final leg of its testing journey. Robert anticipates pushing the tablet into full testing in the week ahead, most likely on more airframes, as currently it is being tested only on the 737-700.

However, with all the development troubles with C++/WASM and Javascript connections between external EFB and aircraft systems behind, the final stages of development gained their pace, and according to Robert, the team is pretty close to installing it on the flight deck of our 737.

PMDG 777 is Progressing Fast

As we reported before, after FSExpo the development of the highly-anticipated PMDG 777 for Microsoft Flight Simulator received a huge leap forward regarding the development of most difficult parts of the aircraft. Robert mentioned that suddenly all the pieces started to snap into place suddenly, and in the last two weeks the 777 received the fastest forward motion in the development.

Randazzo mentioned that the development of the PMDG 777 is progressing faster than the previous 737 and DC-6. However, this is also because the team learned many lessons after bringing the 737 into Microsoft Flight Simulator, resulting in a change they started the development of the PMDG 777.

Unfortunately, the PMDG team is not yet keen on providing us with the first previews of this aeroplane yet.

The PMDG team might bring us more news any time soon, so if you don’t want to miss anything, stay tuned to FSNews!
