FSWeekend is a yearly event held in the Netherlands, or more specifically Lelystad, since 1998. It had been running at the Aviodrome Aviation Museum with nearly 5000 visitors this year, a record for FSWeekend. After announcing a move in venues, Aviodrome announced its own FSWeekend, a subject Mathijs Kok at PMDG commented on.
After a record-breaking year, organisers behind FSWeekend needed a bigger venue to support growing demand from the community. Starting in 2027, on the 3rd and 4th of April, FSWeekend will move to Utrecht. Located in the heart of the Netherlands, it’s much closer to Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, only 45 minutes by car and located right on a major Highway.
However, since their move of venues, Aviodrome has announced “FSWeekend” at the Museum on the 13th and 14th of March 2027. The event is very similar to the official event, with a focus on simulation and aviation, with both visitors and exhibitors. The familiar name from the venue has prompted a response from PMDG’s Community Manager, Mathijs Kok.

Speaking in the general chat of the official PMDG Discord Server, Mathijs touched on how he remembered organising flight simulator meetings, which eventually became FSWeekend as a larger public event. He has since handed it over to the current organisers who continued what he began. Mathijs spoke of the disappointment of seeing the Aviodrome use the same name he had created in an effort to compete with FSWeekend.
