TFDi Design Releases Major MD-11 Updates

TFDi Design has announced the latest round of updates for their flagship MD-11 for MSFS.

Since TFDi Design released the MD-11 for Microsoft Flight Simulator and Prepar3D last July, they have continued to put a lot of development and support effort into this flagship aircraft.

Taking on board user feedback seems to have been the priority here, and this latest round of updates has addressed many issues that have been brought up over the past few months. Although the last update in November to the MD-11 was very welcome indeed, the January 2025 update sees a big leap with nearly 60 individual snagging points now resolved.

A good portion of these tackle the common feedback of issues with the ILS/Autoland system and include fixes for capture problems, configuration issues and ‘lazy’ tracking behaviour. These have been received very warmly by the community, who had previously asked TFDi Design to put them high on the priority list.

The TFDi Design team has also been putting a lot of focus into the sounds of the MD-11, with both the January 25th and 4th February updates containing audio tweaks and improvements. In addition to this, they also shared a preview of some upcoming sound enhancements, which you can see here.

A full list of the changes can be seen here in the change log provided by TFDi Design. The developer has also confirmed via Facebook and Discord that, although they aren’t commenting on any future aircraft development projects, they are still fully committed to the MD-11 project and that these recent enhancements are just part of their ongoing work to improve the product.

It’s worth noting that some of the updates are platform-specific, with MSFS being the primary recipient of the work in the latest updates. Looking to the future though, it’s expected that they’ll be mirroring MSFS enhancements to the P3D variant where technically possible along with other updates. Many community members have commented that they are particularly looking forward to the Pratt and Whitney engine options that are anticipated to be coming to the TFDi Design MD-11 in 2025.
