TFDi Design Releases MD11 For MSFS And Prepar3D

TFDi Design has officially released its highly anticipated MD-11 aircraft for MSFS and Prepar3D simulators. This rendition, features 4K textures, custom animations, and a high-quality cockpit model based on real-life measurements and photographs. The cockpit includes visually accurate elements like spoiler panels, aileron droop, and cockpit mechanisms.

About MD11

The McDonnell Douglas MD-11 is a wide-body, tri-jet airliner developed by McDonnell Douglas and later produced by Boeing. Introduced in 1990, the MD-11 was designed as a modern successor to the DC-10, featuring advanced avionics, improved aerodynamics, and greater fuel efficiency. The aircraft’s most notable feature is its three-engine configuration, with two engines mounted under the wings and a third at the base of the vertical stabilizer.

This design choice provided a balance between the range and performance of four-engine jets and the cost savings of twin-engine aircraft. The MD-11 was utilized by numerous airlines worldwide for both passenger and cargo services, appreciated for its long-range capabilities and versatility.

About The Add-On

The add-on is available in both passenger and freighter configurations, each with detailed interiors. The MD-11โ€™s systems, including flight management system (FMS) and a fully simulated autoflight system (AFS), offer realistic guidance and management capabilities. The onboard systems, such as electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and fuel, have been recreated using real maintenance and flight manuals, allowing for both manual and automatic operations.

Display systems have been designed to replicate the actual behavior of the aircraftโ€™s display units, from computer processing to CRT outputs. Customization options include engine choices, with the General Electric engine currently available and the Pratt & Whitney engine option slated for a future update. Users can also customize the engine tape display and switch between passenger and cargo configurations, which impact flight deck and system settings.

The model includes an in-cockpit tablet (EFB) for managing various functions, including flight plan imports, ground services, and fuel and payload control. An upcoming Extended Simulation Package, scheduled for late 2024, will introduce random and operational failures, circuit breaker functionality, and a failures management panel for remote shared control of failures.

The additional package can be purchased for $9.99, and the Extended Simulation Package will be available for $4.99. During the presale and early access period, all packages were bundled into a single edition for $80 USD.

The TFDi Design MD-11 supports Microsoft Flight Simulator (MSFS 2020) and multiple versions of Lockheed Martin Prepar3D (v4, v5, and v6). Anticipated support for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 will be confirmed as more details about the simulator become available.
