The Asobo team has released the recently promised World Update 21, enhancing the coverage of Australia in the world of Microsoft Flight Simulator.

The Asobo team has released the recently promised World Update 21, enhancing the coverage of Australia in the world of Microsoft Flight Simulator. The release announcement has been published via Microsoft Flight Simulator’s social media accounts.

The world update promises a new standard for visual fidelity of the virtual world that we fly in regularly. World Update 21 is created in cooperation with Bing Maps, Vexcel and Gaya Simulations. The update aims to replace the previous Australian World Update, World Update 7, which was released back in 2021.

The world update for the land down under includes 40 areas of interest, recreated using triangulated irregular network surface texturing. The coverage of these areas spans across the whole country, including cities and natural wonders.

In New South Wales, we may find the city of Albury, the Blue Mountains, known for their sandstone cliffs, as well as the Central Coast region and Chatswood City. Its capital, Sydney, has also received its well-deserved rework in this World Update.

In Queensland, we may find Brisbane, Gold Coast, Harvey Bay and Cairns, a well-known gateway to the Great Barrier Reef. In South Australia, there are Adelaide and Woodcroft. Tasmania has received updates in the cities of Hobart and Launceston.

Moving to Victoria, there are Melbourne, Geelong, Bendigo, Frankston and Mildura cities, and some more. In Western Australia, we can find the improved cities of Perth, Jandakot and Joondalup. Australia’s capital, Canberra, has been reworked as well. In the Northern Territory, Darwin has been reworked.

Missions are also included, and there are separate missions for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 and 2020. The 2024 missions include three discovery flights, five precision landings, two low-altitude challenges and two rally race challenges. In MSFS 2020, pilots can enjoy three discovery flights as well, three landing challenges and one bush trip.
