29Palms has released its latest airport scenery, bringing Chania International Airport (LGSA) to Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. The airport, located on the Greek island of Crete, is a well-known destination in the Mediterranean and sees significant traffic during the summer tourism season.

Chania International Airport, officially named Ioannis Daskalogiannis Airport, sits approximately 14 kilometers northeast of the city of Chania on the Akrotiri peninsula. The airport serves both civilian and military operations, with the northern side of the airport dedicated to commercial flights and the southern side operated by the Hellenic Air Force.
The airport features a single 3,348-meter (10,982 ft) asphalt runway designated 11L/29R, capable of handling large aircraft including the Boeing 747, Antonov AN-124, and even military transport aircraft such as the C-5 Galaxy. Due to its strategic location and popularity among tourists, traffic levels increase significantly during the summer months, with more than 100 flights per day operated by airlines such as Aegean Airlines, Ryanair, Wizz Air, Transavia, British Airways, SAS, and EasyJet.

According to the developer, the scenery aims to provide a realistic representation of the airport layout and infrastructure, with updated apron layouts and detailed ground polygons reflecting the airport’s most recent configuration.
The package includes highly detailed 3D models and textures across the runway, taxiways, apron, terminal buildings, and surrounding airport areas. The terminal building has been recreated with a detailed interior and walk-through capability, allowing users to explore parts of the airport environment from within the simulator.

Additional features include improved vegetation around the airport area, custom animated windsocks and flags, dynamic lighting systems, and a sloped runway designed to better match the real-world terrain profile of the airport.
The scenery is currently available through the Contrail Shop for €19.36 including VAT,with installation handled via the Contrail App.
