A week ago, Michael Brown of Laminar Research has shared multiple videos showcasing some of the aircraft functionalities we can expect in X-Plane 12, an expected successor of X-Plane 11. We covered those in a separate article because today’s article is about the soon-after published default Cirrus SR22 for X-Plane 12 trailer.
Produced by a renowned flight simulation company, AviationLads, the trailer also gives us some insight into how will the simulator look in general. Of course, we have to keep in mind that it is still an alpha version and thus nothing is final.
If we were to speak only about the aircraft, the trailer nicely showcases various system functions as well as nice 3D modelling and texturing elements. This is reassuring the community that the aircraft will not have only a few core buttons and switches usable.
Further, and most importantly, the trailer also previews the aircraft’s audio. Especially immersing is the first few seconds where AviationLads intentionally left the trailer without video footage. Thus people can 100% focus on the audio experience.
When it comes to general sim overview, AviationLads made a flight above Los Angeles downtown, the Griffith Observatory, and the Hollywood sign as well as over the Las Vegas boulevard. We even got a glimpse of the ground autogen which appears to offer a much higher density of vegetation and buildings.
The aircraft will, likely, come with the simulator release which is yet unknown. The community hopes for release this year, however. As far as what we know about pricing, there will be no free upgrades from X-Plane 11 unless you will purchase X-Plane 11 during the X-Plane 12 early access stage through the official website. That is, however, information from the announcement Q&A, hence the final look can differ.
