Aircraft & Avionics Update 05 for MSFS Released

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 receives Aircraft and Avionics Update 05, containing fixes, features, and improvements for multiple aircraft, including the ATR

Asobo has relased its latest Aircraft & Avionics Update (AAU) for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. This update contains significant fixes and improvements for various aircraft, including the ATR series, as well as bringing several aircraft to 2024-native status with the corresponding improved flight models and career mode compatibility.

This update will be particularly welcomed by enthusiasts of the ATR 42-600 and 72-600 who have been hoping to see issues carried over into the 2024-native version ironed out. The lengthy changelog does not disappoint, and it seems Asobo has given the popular short haul prop its due attention.

Highlights from the Changelog

ATR Series

  • Fixed engine shutting down for certain aircraft variants when skipping to takeoff (career mode).
  • Fixed nose down attitude after using Back on Track and Back to Fly.
  • Increased Reverse Thrust power for all variants to match observed performance of the real aircraft.
  • Retuned 42-600 engine, was way too powerful, performance now by the manual charts.
  • Fixed LOD issues.
  • Fixed ice probe not lighting up.
  • Fixed VNAV arming in CRZ phase.
  • Added sim rate indicator to EFB status bar.
  • Added sim rate controls to EFB MAINT page.
  • Fixed door animations and interactions.
  • Improved route drawing.
  • Improved VNAV path calculation.

Bell 47J Ranger

  • Converted to the native MSFS 2024 rotorcraft framework.
  • Revised and retuned flight model for MSFS 2024.
  • Refined performance across take-off, cruise, approach, and landing.
  • Updated engine and aircraft configuration.
  • Improved cockpit systems, instrumentation, and electrical behavior.
  • Improved ground handling and touchdown behavior.
  • Updated cockpit instruments and aircraft systems.
  • Corrected cockpit control and interaction issues.
  • Updated exterior, cockpit, and cabin materials.
  • Improved lighting and animation quality.
  • Refined cockpit and exterior sound perspectives.

Boeing 307 Stratoliner

  • Upgraded to the modern MSFS 2024 aircraft framework.
  • Revised and retuned flight model for MSFS 2024.
  • Updated exterior and interior materials.
  • Improved cockpit, cabin, and exterior lighting.
  • Completely reworked the B307 sound package.

Curtiss C-46 Commando

  • Upgraded to the modern MSFS 2024 aircraft framework.
  • Revised the flight model to better represent the C-46’s size and mass.
  • Improved stability, control response, and ground handling.
  • Refined engine response and aircraft performance.
  • Expanded the electrical-system simulation.
  • Improved cockpit controls, switches, and instrumentation.
  • Updated cockpit and exterior lighting.
  • Refreshed interior and exterior artwork and materials.
  • Improved animations and interactive elements.
  • Updated engine and propeller sounds.

Ford 4-AT Trimotor

  • Upgraded to the native MSFS 2024 aircraft framework.
  • Revised and retuned the flight model.
  • Improved engine performance and three-engine behavior.
  • Refined aerodynamic response, handling, and stability.
  • Upgraded the Sperry autopilot system.
  • Improved autopilot bank, pitch, and heading controls.
  • Added better control limits, clamping and animation wrapping.
  • Improved VOR, CDI, and OBS-related functionality.
  • Corrected magneto and engine-control logic.
  • Updated cockpit instruments and lighting controls.
  • Improved cockpit and exterior lighting.
  • Updated engine and propeller sounds.

As in previous updates, Asobo continues its commitment to expanding Career Mode compatibility. As such, the above aircraft are now usable in their respective classes and have received significant sound and visual fine-tuning to bring them in line with modern Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 standards.
