Announced earlier this year, Drzewiecki Design has released its first scenery in Australia for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 & 2024. Western Sydney Airport, Australia´s newest international airport, is Drzewiecki’s most recent scenery release for the simulator. This new scenery sets a new standard of realism and performance, according to the developer. The project was built around MSFS 2024 using native elements of the simulator. It includes a faithful rendition of the airport and a plethora of features.
About this Airport
Western Sydney Airport or Nancy-Bird Walton International Airport (ICAO: YSWS) is an airport under construction in Badgerys Creek, Australia. Currently, the airport is still under construction with an opening date set for 2026. This brand new project will be a hub for freight, domestic, and international flights for a rapidly developing area in Australia. It will also help alleviate the traffic load at the current Sydney Airport.

The airport embraces modernity with sustainability and innovation in mind. It will operate 24 hours non-stop without curfew hours, so airplanes will be arriving and departing nonstop from Western Sydney Airport. A new fully digital air traffic control facility is operational at this airport, replacing the old control tower model.
Features of this scenery
Drzewiecki’s rendition of this future airport has an extensive list of features that bring this airport to life in MSFS. This scenery not only recreates this airport, but it also features elements outside the airport, like animated trains. The whole terrain around the scenery was generated using high-resolution textures captured from a drone.

Everything around the airport, from models to textures, was custom-made by the developer using the latest techniques to ensure high quality and performance. Many static objects are also found all through the airport with a high level of detail.

Western Sydney Airport is now available for purchase at multiple flight simulation web stores. A complete list of vendors where you can find this scenery is available. You can learn more about the work from Drzewiecki Design by reading our Krakow v2 scenery article.
