Further improvements to FlyByWire’s A32NX

In their constant drive to improve the default Airbus A320 Neo provided by MSFS, the ever popular FlyByWire have added further improvements to their own A32NX.

This is an ongoing process with updates happening periodically as is indicated in FlyByWire’s changelogs. Currently at 0.3.1 these improvements have seen the default A320 Neo go from an unstable and troublesome experience to something more usable. Over 300 commits have been undertaken since MSFS was released with around twenty changes to the systems within the aircraft. It helps that FlyByWire have the assistance of real-world A320 pilots involved in their process.

0.3.0 brought some very important changes especially with the ECAM and the MCDU. Notably how and what information is displayed. Sim users will now find, as much as possible, these units correspond to what would be expected in a A320 Neo. Furthermore lighting has been improved especially in terms of the cockpit brightness when looking at displays. Some exterior lighting has also been fixed.

Many changes have been made to switches making them more operable than was found with the default. Fire switches now work as well as left wipers.

Coming in for an ILS has been improved with changes made to latitude recalculation and ECAM display. Bugs have been ironed out with the FMA displaying the thrust callouts i.e. LVR CLB. A significant bug fix involved loss of engine due to fuel flow being shut off once the APU was switched off. This has now been fixed.

These are just a few of the main fixes brought about in 0.3.0 which have given the A320NX a more real world feel. However not willing to stand still the 0.3.1 update brings featured changes such as:

Improvements include:

  • Upper ECAM visuals have been improved upon as well as the ECAM door page which has had a colour fix.
  • Textures have also been altered with the glareshield taking away unnecessary roughness.

FlyByWire have also introduced some bug fixes:

  • There was an error in the engine rotation animation causing it to look like it was rotating too fast. This has now been fixed.
  • Following the patch that brought us MSFS 1.9.3 fixes were made to allow the mod to be implemented and used.
  • There were issues with active waypoints being incorrect. These have been fixed. There was also a crash when trying to alter a waypoint in the flight plan, this has been sorted too

You can be sure that FlyByWire will continue to provide updates and changes to what is an excellent aircraft for MSFS.
