Got Friends is preparing to release its Taylorcraft BC-12D for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 (MSFS2024). The aircraft is scheduled to arrive on September 1, 2026, and will be available exclusively through the in-game Microsoft Flight Simulator Marketplace. The release marks the beginning of Got Friends move toward Marketplace-exclusive payware distribution.
The aircraft has been in development for more than a year and is designed to reflect the handling and characteristics of a classic taildragger while making use of the newer simulator systems of MSFS2024. According to Got Friends, the BC-12D is its most detailed classic taildragger to date. It will be available in four configurations: Standard, Bush, Skis, and Floats, allowing for a range of operations including sightseeing flights, bush flying, water landings, and winter operations.

A Closer Look at the Taylorcraft
AviationLads has released a video showcasing the Taylorcraft BC-12D in Microsoft Flight Simulator, providing a detailed look at both the exterior and interior of the aircraft. The footage also highlights its versatility in different flying environments, including light aerobatics, bush operations, and seaplane use.
A key feature shown in the video is Got Friends’ Craft Pad system. This acts as a central configuration hub within the aircraft, allowing pilots to adjust a wide range of settings directly in the simulator. The system includes more than 65 configurable options covering realism settings, avionics, cockpit equipment, dashboard layouts, and visual elements. Settings can also persist between flights.
The Real Taylorcraft BC-12D
The Taylorcraft BC-12D is a post-war light aircraft developed as part of Taylorcraft’s family of two-seat designs. It is a high-wing, strut-braced monoplane with side-by-side seating and a fabric-covered fuselage and wings. The BC-12D was approved in November 1945 and was originally powered by a 65-horsepower Continental A-65-8 engine.
Known for its simple construction, low weight, and forgiving handling characteristics, the Taylorcraft became a representative example of the light aircraft that helped expand recreational and general aviation in the United States. Its availability in float and ski configurations further highlights its adaptability beyond standard runway operations.
Marketplace Exclusive Release
The Taylorcraft BC-12D also represents a shift in Got Friends’ distribution strategy. In July, the developer announced that the aircraft would be the first of its future payware releases to launch exclusively through the Microsoft Flight Simulator Marketplace, with direct sales through its own website being phased out. Existing purchases remain unaffected.
The aircraft is currently listed at $24.99 USD (€21.95 EUR) and is being developed natively for MSFS 2024, with a legacy MSFS 2020 version also included as part of the project’s release approach.
