iniBuilds has taken to its forum to announce the upcoming Impulse 100 “Pocket Rocket” for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024. The aircraft, according to the publisher iniBuilds, is “developed by a talented and highly experienced team within the flight simulation community.” Pilots can expect a powerful yet compact aircraft.

The Impulse 100 “Pocket Rocket”

The Pocket Rocket is an experimental variant of the Impulse 100, a high-performance ultralight aircraft. Although information is limited, the base variant often comes with a Jabiru 3300 engine, capable of reaching a top speed of 220 km/h, and features a range of 1,700 km with an additional hour of reserve. The Impulse 100 is built predominantly from a carbon-fibre honeycomb sandwich, used in the fuselage, wings, and tail surfaces.

Building on the high performance of the Impulse 100, the Pocket Rocket receives a significant boost from its Allison 250-C20R turbine engine. An aircraft in Italy, registered as I-B648, features this powerful engine. This example is said to have climbed at 250 km/h with a rate of 3,200 ft/min, demonstrating its impressive capabilities.

iniBuilds’ “Pocket Rocket”

The development team behind the virtual counterpart of the aircraft has brought the Pocket Rocket to Microsoft Flight Simulator with tuned flight dynamics and accurate systems. The level of detail is reflected in features such as the custom turbine engine simulation, functional circuit breakers, and smaller touches like gear flex and exhaust effects. Additional external features include realistic lighting and engine smoke effects.

In the cockpit, the Working Title G1000 NXi is present with comprehensive system pages, annunciations, and accurate electrical and fuel behaviour. This complements the authentic simulation of the Allison engine, which includes a realistic ITT peak during startup, hot start and failure conditions, as well as torque and over-temp exceedance behaviour.

It should be noted that if the ITT rises too high, the engine may be damaged, potentially leading to a fire. Further custom system simulations include cabin heating, an oxygen system, and airspeed indicator failures under specific conditions.

For pilots looking to vacate the cockpit, the opening canopy may prove valuable. From an external perspective, users can expect a highly detailed 3D model with 4K PBR textures and six custom liveries. Each livery includes unique paintwork and custom interior textures.

The Impulse 100 “Pocket Rocket” will be available to purchase from the iniBuilds store for £11.99 (GBP). According to the product page, the aircraft is slated for release “soon.” In the meantime, you can read more about iniBuilds and their latest developments here.
