Miltech Simulations Releases Supercarrier Pro for MSFS

Miltech Simulations, a military add-on developer, announced via a Facebook post earlier this week the release of their latest product, Supercarrier Pro for Microsoft Flight Simulator. The product is a fully functional studio-level aircraft carrier pack for the platform.

A little about the aircraft carriers

USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN-78) is an aircraft carrier in the US Navy and the lead ship of her class, the Ford class. The Gerald Ford is the largest warship ever constructed and is the world’s largest aircraft carrier. The ship is equipped with an AN/SPY-3 and AN/SPY-4 multi-function, multi-band radar. It replaces traditional steam catapults with the more advanced Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch System and will launch all non-VTOL aircraft. The innovation eliminates the traditional requirement to generate and store steam freeing up considerable space below deck.

The Nimitz class is a class of ten nuclear-powered aircraft carriers in service with the United States Navy. USS Ronald Reagan (CVN-76) is the ninth ship of her class and is named in honor of Ronald W. Reagan, President of USA from 1981 to 1989. She was commissioned on 12 July 2003. Instead of gas turbines or diesel-electric systems used for propulsion on modern warships, the carrier uses two A4W pressurized water reactors. As a result, the ship is capable of operating for over 20 years without refueling and has a service life of 50 years.

Key features of Supercarrier Pro

Miltech Simulations has been developing the necessary tech for functional aircraft carriers for the past three years. The product is the result of extensive research and development of proprietary tech to enable all real-world systems and operations that you may find on aircraft carriers around the world. The team has included four ships on the initial release: Ford-Class CVN-78, Nimitz-Class CVN-76, Arleigh-Burke destroyers, and Ticonderoga Cruisers.

The product features a total of 14 moving locations, 14 static (anchored) locations, and a Miltech Simulations Supercarrier Pro toolbar. The product also features universally compatible arrestor cables and catapults, which means any stock or third-party aircraft can use the arrestor cables and catapults without any modifications. Supercarrier Pro is also fully Xbox compatible and has been optimized for the best performance on the console.

Further features include functional optical landing systems (FLOLS and LRLS), fully functional landing signal officers, animated jet crew, jet blast deflectors, and elevators. Navaids such as ILS and TACAN are also available on the static carriers and carrier communications with UNICOM and ATIS are available (static carriers only). Both moving and static carriers are fully compatible over multiplayer and the team has also included extensive documentation covering equipment, systems, and procedures.

The Miltech team also states a few important points for us to note before jumping into Supercarrier Pro. Crash detection must be turned off at all times. The freeware Top Gun Expansion is a requirement for this product to function correctly. Any products bought from Miltech including this one will be available to use in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 at no additional cost.
