Navigraph Introduces Scratchpads to Charts App

Navigraph introduces Scratchpads to Charts, adding integrated note-taking templates for ATIS, CRAFT, PIREP, TOLD, and more.

Navigraph has introduced Scratchpads, a new note-taking feature integrated directly into the Navigraph Charts application. The feature is designed to centralize operational notes, reducing the need for physical paper or external tools during a flight.

Scratchpads is available to users with an active Navigraph Unlimited subscription. Once a flight is created in Charts, a notepad icon appears at the bottom of the interface, positioned right next to the pinboard section. Selecting it opens a series of note templates.

Users can choose between blank paper, lined paper, checkered (graph) paper, and a keyboard-friendly, type-able notepad with adjustable text size. Handwritten input is supported via stylus, mouse, or touch. Beyond basic notes, Scratchpads also includes structured templates modeled after real-world cockpit workflows. These include:

  • ATIS, for recording weather details such as wind, visibility, temperature, dew point, and altimeter settings.
  • CRAFT clearance, following the Cleared to, Route, Altitude, Frequency, and Transponder format.
  • Out/In times, for logging gate departure and arrival times, with additional operational data fields.
  • TOLD (Takeoff and Landing Data), covering runway, weight, trim, flap configuration, thrust settings, and V-speeds.
  • PIREP, modeled after FAA reporting standards and particularly relevant for users flying on networks such as VATSIM and IVAO.
  • Holding clearance, for documenting assigned holds and EFC times.

In its official announcement, Navigraph demonstrates the feature through a simulated KLAS–KSAN flight scenario, showing how Scratchpads integrates into a practical operational workflow from departure to landing. While Scratchpads has been formally introduced and is available within the Charts application for Unlimited subscribers, Navigraph has not provided additional rollout details beyond the current implementation.

With its latest update, Navigraph continues to expand the functionality of its Charts platform, reinforcing its strategy of building a more integrated, pilot-focused flight-planning ecosystem.
