Orbx Announces New Anacortes Airport For MSFS

Sante Sottile from Orbx took to the forums to announce Anacortes Airport for Microsoft Flight Simulator. The leading developer of this add-on is Andreas Hegi, who has created many add-ons for the platform, such as Darrington Municipal or Samedan Airport.

About Anacortes Airport

The airport is located in northern Washington State, between Seattle and Vancouver. It serves mainly general aviation traffic in the region. Apart from the general aviation traffic, the airport is served by San Juan Airlines. The airport’s only commercial operator connects it to four airports located around San Juan Airlines.

About The Add-On

Orbx has completely reconstructed Anacortes (FAA code 74S) for Microsoft Flight Simulator. The rebuilt airport will cater to aviation enthusiasts and virtual pilots with features such as a 3D terminal interior, PBR textures, an accurate ground layout, or replicated airport signs and markings. The intention is to provide a realistic flight simulation experience, focusing on details inside and outside the terminal, which can be seen well in the preview screenshots.

Speaking of screenshots, we can see on them a pretty well-detailed pump station with modelled safety equipment such as a fire extinguisher, emergency shut-off switch, or plastic cones. The airport’s surroundings have also been touched by the developer; some of the opened hangars will have some lighting not only on the outside but also inside, lighting the static aircraft.

The northern part of Washington is renowned for its breathtaking natural landscapes, including the picturesque San Juan Islands. Apart from the upcoming release of Anacortes, Orbx has released another airport in this region, Orcas Island Airport. Such a combination would give us plenty of opportunities for stunning VFR flights and some real-world operations with San Juan Airlines that connect these two places.

Currently, there is no more information regarding the release date, pricing, or any full feature list. If you want other Orbx products, check out this recently released Gladstone Airport for MSFS.
