The developer Orbx is currently working on a new major project for Microsoft Flight Simulator. Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta Airport (KATL) was announced a few months back, and we have finally received a new development update covering this major international hub in the United States. The post has been published through the Orbx forums.

The post has been created by Sante Sottile, and he has mentioned that this is the fourth and final development update covering Atlanta Airport. He mentioned that the project has taken more time than was anticipated, and its initial development is coming to an end. He has mentioned that the team has been actively converting all the assets to make them native in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, as the scenery was initially developed for 2020 version of the simulator.
The Orbx team still needs to do a few things to completely finalise the process. This includes final placement of various 3D details, such as ground services, vehicles, trees and people, export and place the custom 3D taxiway signage, finish up lighting and complete all animations that are going to be available in this scenery. Some screenshots of the scenery were also shown, showing the airport in its glory within the simulator engine. All of the shown images display the airside of the airport.

Matteo from Orbx had hoped that the scenery would be released before Easter, but that is not going to happen, as we found out now. However, the delay has not pushed the release so far back, and we may expect this new scenery for Atlanta in the middle of April.
It has been confirmed that an X-Plane 12 version of this scenery is also in development and should be coming in the upcoming months. In the meantime, you can take a look at other projects by Orbx covered by us.
