Parallel 42 has rolled out updates to its acclaimed SIMFX Immersion Series for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020, enhancing visual fidelity and expanding compatibility across popular Airbus and Boeing aircraft. Known for adding cinematic realism to the sim, the Immersion packs simulate visual effects such as custom contrails, wing condensation, volumetric lighting, realistic engine heat distortion, and touchdown smoke. These subtle yet impactful details respond to weather and aircraft dynamics, offering an immersive layer of authenticity.
A320 Immersion and 777 Immersion Updates
Version 2025.31.5.16 of the A320 Immersion adds support for the Fenix “Big Fenix Update” (BFU), a major systems overhaul for the aircraft, and extends compatibility to the Fenix A319 Sharklets variant. Also released on August 4, 2025, version 2025.31.4.18 of the 777 Immersion adds full support for the PMDG 777-200LR.

About Parallel 42
Parallel 42 is a creative force in the flight simulation community, known for developing a diverse portfolio of products that enhance both functionality and atmosphere in Microsoft Flight Simulator. Beyond its acclaimed Immersion Series, the studio is behind utility tools like Flow, Campout, and ChasePlane. Parallel 42 also creates highly detailed general aviation sceneries, such as Hogsback Ranch and Widows Peak.

It’s worth noting that despite the continued development of Immersion Packs for MSFS 2020, Parallel 42 has officially announced that these products will not be ported to Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. In a statement released earlier this year, the studio cited fundamental changes to the simulator’s “Model Behaviors” system as the key technical barrier. As a result, the Immersion line remains exclusive to MSFS 2020. Tools like Flow and ChasePlane, however, continue to be actively developed for MSFS 2024.
If you don’t already own the Immersion Packs, both the updated A320 and 777 versions are available for purchase via Contrail and via the official Parallel 42 website. The update is also expected shortly on the Microsoft Marketplace, where the products are already available.
