The developer PMDG has released the last aircraft in their Boeing 777 Series for Microsoft Flight Simulator. The long-range version of the 777-200 is now available for everybody to enjoy.

The 777-200LR uses the classic fuselage design of the 777 and is equipped with two General Electric GE90-110B engines. This variant is unique for its world record back in the day, when it flew non-stop from Hong Kong to London through the Pacific Ocean. It has flown this flight in 22 hours and 45 minutes, covering over 21,000 kilometres. In a classic passenger environment, this 777 variant can fly for more than 17 hours non-stop.

As with any PMDG aircraft, the team promises deep system simulation, detailed exterior and interior models, beautiful textures and an accurate sound set. All systems that you need on a-to-b flights are simulated, including accurate autopilot, air conditioning, avionics, brakes and even datalink through Hoppie or SayIntentions.

Those who like a bit of challenge can use the 777-200LR to its full potential with its simulated failures. There are more than a hundred of them, and dynamic failures are also present, meaning that there are realistic approximates of failures of individual modules in normal operations.

You can purchase the 777-200LR through the PMDG website for approximately €42.89, making it the cheapest PMDG 777 variant currently on the market.

PMDG’s Latest Development Update

PMDG’s Robert Randazzo has also taken to the PMDG forums to share more news with the community, so this weekend is not only about the release of the 777-200LR. In this development update, he talks about the 737, Marketplace availability, the DC-6, as well as the upcoming Boeing 747.

To start off, PMDG’s Robert Randazzo has mentioned that the 777 Series has received an update to bring the aircraft series on par with the 777-200LR. This update is now available for everyone who has purchased this aircraft through the PMDG website. The Marketplace versions should be updated sometime today.

Speaking of Marketplace, Robert also mentioned that the 777 Series will be available today for the MSFS 2024 Marketplace. Those who already own the 2020 versions of the PMDG 777 Series will see the 2024 releases on Marketplace completely for free. You will also be able to install all the needed liveries through the PMDG Operations Center v3. Unfortunately, those who own the Xbox version of the PMDG 777 are now out of luck, as there is no way of distributing liveries for that aircraft version. PMDG is working closely with Microsoft on this issue.

PMDG 737 Now at Full Pace

The 737 is now the next in line to be brought to life in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. The workload from the 777 has fallen off, meaning that the team can now fully focus on this narrow-body airliner. Robert has mentioned that a short video of this aircraft should be ready for the community to see soon.

He also mentioned that the 737 has now undergone “much of the 2024 native retooling”, meaning that the development phase can now steamroll forward.

About the DC-6 and the 747

The DC-6 development is currently stagnating, as the PMDG team is waiting for the needed fix of the level of detail issues. However, the 747 is a bit luckier, as more development resources have been drawn to the Queen of the Skies. Both the 747-100 and 747-400 are now in active development, and some previews are on their way.
