Project MAX C212-200 Arrives for MSFS
Project MAX has released its C212-200 Aviocar for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024, bringing the rugged Spanish utility turboprop to both generations of the simulator.
Available exclusively through the iniBuilds Store, the C212-200 marks Project MAX’s first aircraft release and is priced at £22.99 excluding VAT (around €27). Rather than focusing solely on the aircraft’s distinctive appearance, the developer has built the addon around its systems, engine behaviour and the flexibility that made the real Aviocar such an adaptable workhorse.


Built for the Places Airliners Cannot Go
Originally developed by CASA, the C212 was designed around utility rather than comfort. Its high wing, fixed landing gear, unpressurised cabin and rear cargo ramp allowed the aircraft to take on passenger, cargo, military and parachuting duties, including operations from short and remote airfields.
The -200 improved on the earlier C212-100 with more powerful engines and strengthened landing gear, while the wider family went on to serve military and civilian operators around the world.
Project MAX has tried to carry that operational character into the simulator rather than treating the aircraft as simply another twin turboprop.


The TPE331 Gets Its Own Simulation
A major part of the addon centres on the Garrett/AlliedSignal TPE331-10R engines.
Unlike the free-turbine engines found on many familiar turboprops, the TPE331 uses a fixed-shaft arrangement. Project MAX has therefore developed custom engine and propeller behaviour covering starting, shutdown, spool response, governing, feathering, Beta range, reverse, EGT, APR and engine limiting.
For those wanting additional depth, an optional extended engine model adds wear and maintenance over time. Oil consumption and contamination are tracked, individual engines can develop differently, and the aircraft retains its maintenance state between sessions.
That persistence extends beyond the engines, turning repeated flights in the same airframe into something more involved than simply loading a fresh aircraft each time.


Old-School Cockpit, Plenty of Choice
The C212’s flight deck can be configured to represent different equipment fits rather than locking every user into one avionics package.
Alongside the original analogue instrumentation, Project MAX includes an EFIS84 option and configurable navigation equipment. Its earlier development material also detailed combinations involving GTN, GNS and KLN 90B units, together with a functional Bendix weather radar.
Behind those instruments sit simulated electrical, hydraulic, fuel and braking systems, while the cockpit itself is interactive down to individual controls and switches.
A custom EFB handles weight and balance, performance calculations, checklists, maintenance and aircraft configuration, as well as SimBrief integration and Navigraph charts. A Smart Copilot system can also assist with tasks including the gust lock, propeller levers, takeoff power and hydraulics.


Cargo or Passengers
The utility side of the Aviocar has not been forgotten.
Project MAX includes passenger and military transport cabin layouts, an interactive rear cargo ramp and doors, as well as chocks, a GPU and other ground equipment. Windshield wipers are functional, while the weather radar provides both weather and ground-mapping modes.
Several cockpit and exterior configuration options are included to reflect differences found across real-world C212 installations.
The package requires a 1.74 GB download and approximately 6.14 GB once installed, with version 1.0.0 currently available for both supported simulators.
Project MAX has also confirmed that the C212-200 will not be the end of the family. Development of the C212-100 has already begun, giving the studio somewhere to take the Aviocar project after its first aircraft release.
