In the past year, there were a total of three different developers working on their representative renditions of Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport scenery for the Microsoft Flight Simulator series, and with the recent announcement of the iniBuilds rendition, things have shifted in the market a little bit.

Before the Announcement

Before the announcement made by iniBuilds, there were three developers total working on the Paris Charles de Gaulle scenery, with the most prominent name in the industry who worked on it being Aerosoft. The Aerosoft team had already halted the development of this scenery in June. However, the Aerosoft team did not deny the possibility of returning to the development process of this airport. The main reason was a lack of resources and gathering possibilities, as we have mentioned in our article covering this development termination.

That left us with two more options, that being Azrsim, known for their Jeddah scenery, and Pilot Experience Sim (PESim), a French-based developer who also created sceneries for airports like Bordeaux or the Maule M7 Aircraft.

Current Situation

Fast forward to now, the end of August, the iniBuilds team had a ton of announcements in hand for last Friday (August 21st). They have released their Malta Luqa Airport scenery, published a development update covering the A350 v2 and an upcoming A380, and announced the already mentioned Paris Charles de Gaulle scenery.

Let’s start with the better news. It is good for the market to have more scenery options available, as market competition drags the quality up, whilst maintaining prices at somewhat reasonable levels. As such, Pilot Experience Sim has confirmed that they are going to continue the development. Through their Facebook page, PESim mentioned that they are quite surprised that their direct partner decided to work on the same scenery. However, they want to ensure the best possible quality for consumers anyway. PESim promises to constantly update this upcoming airport once it is released.

On the other hand, AZRsim has cancelled its development process of Paris Charles de Gaulle. They have shown full support to the iniBuilds team, and mentioned that they are going to work on a different project that the Microsoft Flight Simulator platform has needed since day one. They haven’t disclosed any further information on it.
