Volanta First Public Release

Volanta, a new flight tracker developed by the Orbx team compatible with all major flight simulators, has been first officially announced back in late October 2020 and has been in closed beta testing ever since. Anyone could apply to participate in the beta testing phase, but not everyone got accepted.

Today, the application has been released publicly, and everyone can use it to track their flights in the simulator. It could be considered as an alternative/competition to the already established ProjectFly or SimToolKitPro.

It has been made clear, that this is not the end of the development, and that we can expect more future updates to come. Volanta keeps track of your flights and aircraft, makes it possible for you to display ATC coverage on an interactive map, or features a very intuitive user interface, for example.

The application is free and can be downloaded through the Volanta website or used in the browser.

Based on the roadmap page on the official website, the developers are currently working on implementing IVAO ATC coverage to the map, adding an option to sort aircraft by most recently flown, or adding an option to click on aircraft icons on the aircraft page, for example.

There are as well numerous known issues that are being worked on. These include memory use optimization, map legend to explain some icons, or incorrect aircraft flight count as well as inconsistent connection to the simulator when using Prepar3D and Microsoft Flight Simulator in some cases.
