CSS have updated their 737-500 for Microsoft Simulator 2020 and introduced experimental support for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. The update to the 737-500 introduces several new features and makes some changes to the aircraft. CSS have also now made the 737-500 available for purchase on simMarket.

CSS 737-500 Update

CSS have released update 1.4.6, available for download in the CSS Launcher, bringing some new features and changes to the aircraft. The main additions in this update are the optional eyebrow windows, winglet option and fluorescent main panel lights. These additions bring a few more options for customers who are looking to fly the right configuration for their airline.

Other additions included adding missing light emissions in the cockpit and changing the landing lights to gradually light up when turned on. With the new optional additions of winglets and eyebrow windows, livery-specific configuration for the aircraft is also now possible within the aircraft.cfg. The rest of the update consisted of some changes and fixes to the aircraft.

Some bigger changes to the 737-500 include improved stall behaviour, engine spool and degradation factors adjusted and more engine performance improvements. The exterior lighting for the aircraft was also completely rewritten from scratch. Bug fixes included texture changes, lighting issues, animation fixes and some FMC (Flight Management Computer) fixes.

MSFS 2024 Experimental Support and simMarket Release

With update 1.4.6, CSS have also decided to publicly release an experimental version of support for MSFS 2024. The experimental version has been included at no additional cost to customers, which will remain the case for the full release. CSS says the MSFS 2024 version remains the same but will have better performance due to MSFS 2024’s better multithreading capabilities.

CSS have also fixed some more specific MSFS 2024 issues, including incompatibility with walkaround mode and low sound volume. The developers will continue to work on this experimental version to bring it up to a full, stable release for the new simulator. CSS recommends users to use the 2020 version if they do not want to encounter bugs and issues present in this version during their flights.

Alongside this update, CSS have made the 737-500 available for purchase on simMarket. All three license tiers will be present on simMarket, and customers can expect to receive a licence key to be activated in the CSS Launcher. Users can do this by selecting “simMarket code” in the product selection drop-down menu of the CSS Launcher. The developers hope this will make the aircraft accessible to more simmers.

Final notes from CSS in their development update have teased some work on new sounds for the 737-500. The developers note that they are working with a well-known professional in the simulator sound industry and will share more news soon. They have also teased work on other 737 variants in the future, with some progress shots to come soon. For more flight simulator news, read here on FSNews.
