Fenix Simulations has released a major new update for its A320 family in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024, bringing further improvements to flight dynamics, systems, visuals, and core infrastructure. Dubbed “BFU Patch 2,” version 2.4.0.2225 follows the recent BFU (Big Fenix Update) and BFU Patch 1, and focuses on refining handling and system accuracy for the A320, A319, and A321.

Reworked Autothrust and Fly-By-Wire Adjustments
The highlight of this update is a complete rework of the autothrust system, now behaving much closer to the real Airbus logic. In earlier versions, thrust changes were applied too aggressively, with the aircraft reacting late and correcting speeds in a somewhat “video game” fashion. With this update, thrust is managed more predictively and smoothly, allowing for more realistic deviations in speed.
This is especially evident during cruise with “Soft ALT CRZ”, and it brings calmer, nuanced energy management throughout the flight. As the developer notes, seeing the speed wander slightly off target is normal and mirrors actual Airbus behaviour.

Work also continues on the fly-by-wire roll axis. The team validated the new feel against multiple Level-D simulators and feedback from real-world pilots, resulting in improved inertia, control “snap,” and more granular manual handling—particularly noticeable during roll inputs and transitions.
Sound, Display, and Infrastructure Enhancements
On the sound front, Fenix team member Dave has been hard at work since the release of the original BFU, with two separate sound update branches already published prior to this patch. As a matter of fact, a whole Discord thread is dedicated to discussions and improvements of this aspect of the product. For this update, attention has focused especially on the CFM56 engine, as well as new and improved wind recordings in both the flight deck and passenger cabin, further deepening the sense of immersion.

Meanwhile, display rendering has seen further backend improvements, with significant changes to the core infrastructure designed to boost both performance and reliability. The core display engine has been streamlined, resulting in improved stability and faster loading across a wide range of hardware. The Fenix Launcher interface has also been updated, with simplified display options and more robust handling of system restarts.
Payment options have also expanded, with Alipay and WeChat Pay now supported in China, and iDEAL available in the Netherlands. BFU Patch 2 is accompanied by a long list of bug fixes and quality-of-life improvements across avionics, art, the EFB, and livery management. Full details can be found in the official changelog.
