FlightFactor Shares New Preview Images of Boeing 787 for X-Plane 12

FlightFactor shares new Blender preview images of its Boeing 787, now in native development for X-Plane 12.

This Friday, FlightFactor took to its social media to post several previews of its upcoming Boeing 787 for X-Plane 12. The project was announced several years ago as part of its ‘Pro’ series (for X-Plane 11), and now, it is being developed natively for X-Plane 12.

FlightFactor confirmed these to be renders made in Blender as a comment reply to a Facebook user’s question, which means that the aircraft has a long way to go. it should be noted that these are WIP images and still show good understanding of the airplane’s cockpit and cabin geometry.

From the shape of the glareshield and the Mode Control Panel’s (MCP) characteristic appearance in the cockpit to the correct shape of the overhead bins in the cabin renders, FlightFactor really has put efforts into an aircraft that many like, but lack in their virtual skies. This will serve the desire of many flight simmers who have been patiently waiting for a high fidelity Boeing 787.

It is also worth mentioning that in one of the images shared (above photo), FlightFactor has been busy laying the architecture for the Electronic Circuit Breaker (ECB) system, which is one of the major differences in how circuit breakers are handled by the maintenance and pilots in the cockpit. The real Boeing 787 was designed as a highly computerized aircraft, in which the circuit breakers are managed digitally via the Multi-Function Display (MFD)”. The status of the breakers is shown via the ‘Circuit Breaker Indication and Control’ (CBIC) page, as shown on the left of the image.

FlightFactor’s 787 is still early in development, with no publicly available release date as of yet. You can find the original images on FlightFactor’s social media. If you’re interested in other FlightFactor news, you can read about the upcoming FF A350v2 here.
