IronSim announces Kalymnos (P3D)

IronSim announced yesterday on the FSDevelopers forum that they’re working on a new airport. This time, Kalymnos (LGKY) will be recreated in the simulator. Kalymnos is an island in the Western Aegean sea. The airport is very small and has no international facilities. All scheduled flights that serve the airport are domestic. The only carrier with routes from Kalymnos is Sky Express, operating island hops within the region and to Athens. It uses ATR42 equipment for those flights.

All the preview shots shown here are very work in progress, but a to be expected feature list was released as well. We can expect photoreal satellite scenery for the entire island, as well as the smaller surrounding islands. The scenery will feature custom mesh and ground polygons. Autogen for the nearby city of Pothia, the island’s capital, will be included too. Custom taxi signs and airport models with PBR materials will be modelled too.

The developer is aiming for a release this month. The airport will be payware. The forum post only mentions development for P3D v4, but we have reached out to the developer to confirm compatibility with other simulators. We will update this post when we have more information.

Update: This scenery will be released for both P3D v4 and P3D v5.
