Mango Studios has released a progress update on the recently announced ATR-72 project, focusing on recent work on interior texturing and current development status. Over the past weeks, the team has continued building and adjusting interior textures based on real aircraft references. This work includes the application of physically based rendering (PBR) materials, surface markings, panel layouts, rivet placement, and wear patterns derived from reference material.

The textures have been adjusted to function within the X-Plane 12 lighting system, with attention given to how materials respond under different lighting conditions. Performance considerations have also been part of the process, with ongoing optimization to ensure the aircraft operates within simulator limits.
Reference material for modeling, textures, and sound recordings was gathered from an ATR 72-500 operated by Alsie Express. Photographs and audio recordings taken during this visit are being used to support visual and sound development.

The aircraft has now entered the alpha testing stage and is currently running in the simulator. This phase allows testing of flight characteristics, system behavior, and general integration within X-Plane 12. Further changes are expected as testing continues. The development team has indicated a target release window set for 2026, with further updates planned as work progresses.
