Microsoft Removes MScenery from MSFS Marketplace

Microsoft has removed MScenery products from the MSFS 2020 and 2024 Marketplace following community complaints over quality, listings and user ratings.

Microsoft has announced the immediate removal of all MScenery products from the Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 in-sim Marketplace following extensive community feedback regarding the developer’s content. The decision marks one of the strongest actions Microsoft has taken against a Marketplace partner and comes after months of criticism from simmers who questioned the quality of MScenery’s products, the accuracy of their Marketplace listings, and the credibility of their unusually high user ratings.

In a statement published on the official Microsoft Flight Simulator forums, the development team explained that the decision was made after receiving a significant number of complaints from the community. According to Microsoft, those concerns centered on three main issues: the overall quality of MScenery’s products, product descriptions and promotional images that were considered misleading, and questions surrounding the validity of the developer’s high Marketplace review scores. As a result, all MScenery products have been removed from sale with immediate effect across both the Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 Marketplaces.

Microsoft also clarified that the decision only affects future sales. Customers who have already purchased any MScenery add-ons will continue to have full access to their existing purchases, which will remain available through their Marketplace libraries and continue to function as normal. The Microsoft Flight Simulator team emphasized that maintaining a trusted Marketplace remains a priority and noted that community feedback played a key role in reaching this decision. The statement also stressed that actions of this nature are not taken lightly, highlighting the importance of user reports in helping improve the overall quality of content available through the in-game store.

The move follows months of discussion across the flight simulation community, where many users questioned the quality of several Marketplace releases and called for stronger quality control. Microsoft’s decision represents one of the clearest signals yet that Marketplace standards are being more actively enforced.
