Parallel 42 recently announced the release of its 777 Immersion effects package for the PMDG 777 for Microsoft Flight Simulator. The 777 Immersion package adds many environmental and physical effects that are sure to enhance your experience with the hot new add-on by PMDG.
After the release of its A320 Immersion package, Parallel 42 continues to add all the fine details to popular add-ons that their developers often miss when it comes to an aircraft’s interaction with the environment. The 777 Immersion package adds many new effects for contrails, engine and wing condensation, engine cold starts, and much more.
With 777 Immersion, you’ll have a visual indicator for when your brakes are overheating in the form of smoke. If your anti-skid fails or you don’t have it turned on, you’ll most likely see skid marks on the runway after landing. In rainy conditions, you’ll see water droplets falling from the wings and fuselage. You’ll even see carbon brake dust being released from the gear as it’s retracted after take off.
There are 16 effects included in the release version of the product. Here’s a full list of the effects included, per the product page:
- Brake Dust
- Cloud Effects
- Cloud Illumination
- Improved Contrails
- Engine Chine Vortices
- Engine Cold Start Smoke
- Engine Condensation
- Engine Ingest Vortices
- Fuel Jettison Trails
- Hot Brakes Smoke
- Improved Skid Marks
- Waste Water Drain
- Water Droplets
- Improved Wheels-on-Rain Effects
- Wing Condensation
- Wing Vortices
The team wanted to add even more effects, such as improved APU and engine heat blur and St. Elmo’s fire, but these effects are currently not compatible with the PMDG 777. This is because of the way PMDG has implemented its heat blur effects and because the aircraft’s geometry doesn’t allow for the St. Elmo’s Fire to be implemented. For now, Parallel 42 suggests users to ask PMDG to implement the changes necessary to allow these effects on the PMDG Forum.
The 777 Immersion package was built on top of Parallel 42’s SimFX framework, which means that SimFX is required for 777 Immersion to work. The product is currently only compatible with PMDG’s 777, but the developer is also working on a version for Captain Sim’s 777 offerings.
This product is available now on PC for $15.00 USD from Contrail or from Parallel 42’s store. Release on the MSFS Marketplace for both PC and Xbox is still pending. If you’re interested in Parallel 42’s A320 Immersion, check out our release article for it here.
