PMDG, a short version of Precision Manuals Development Group, has today released a major update for both 737NGXu and 747 Queen of the Skies II for Prepar3D. Both addons are now compatible with the recently released Prepar3D v5 hotfix 2.
There are still some quirks in the LM lighting, reflection and shading model, but we anticipate them working these out over time, and we are also certain that subsequent updates will be necessary as the platform grows and changes.
In order to install the 737NGXu update properly, you need to download the new installer from your account at PMDG and uninstall the previous version before installing the new one. The 747 Queen of the Skies II can be updated via the Operations Center.
Rsrandazzo, CEO of PMDG, has also explained why the update got delayed so much:
One of the things that has held up release of the 737 for P5D is our struggle to get the cockpit and various airplane reflection profiles working properly in the various iterations of LM’s HotFix2. Through this process we have been sifting feedback out of the LM beta and developer forums in an effort to solve some of the issues that we found.
PMDG has also updated the Operations Center. In order to update you need to navigate to its directory and double click on OpsCenterUpdater.exe.
The developers did also break the PMDG Global Flight Operations which can now break your entire PMDG fleet. In order to fix that, if you have both 737NGXu and 747 installed, you need to update both. If you update only one, the other one will stop working.
As mentioned in previous development updates, PMDG will now focus on updating the 777.
