Skydom Digital Solutions, a new flight simulation scenery developer, has released Red Sea International Airport (OERS) for X-Plane 12. The release marks the Dubai-based studio’s first public project. To celebrate the launch, Skydom is offering its OERS scenery for free.
About Red Sea International Airport
Red Sea International Airport is located in Tabuk, northwestern Saudi Arabia. It serves the regenerative tourism megaproject ‘The Red Sea Project’, part of the country’s wider ‘Vision 2030’ development plan. Designed by British architecture firm Foster and Partners, the airport commenced operations in late 2023 and is expected to serve one million passengers annually by 2030.

The Red Sea Project aims to develop 22 islands in the region; as part of this, a dedicated water runway is planned for future development. The airport currently handles scheduled services from flydubai, Qatar Airways, and Saudia, operating on a single runway. Saudia was the inaugural operator, launching the first regular service between Riyadh and Red Sea International, followed by routes to Jeddah.
About Skydom’s Red Sea International Airport Rendition
Skydom’s rendition brings the desert-inspired airport design to X-Plane 12, featuring full 3D modelling and optimised LOD for smooth performance. The developer ensured accuracy using official airport charts, drone surveys, and planning documents. Key airport areas such as baggage facilities and the FBO are included, alongside photoreal textures in both 2K and 4K, complete with emissive night lighting.

Custom ground vehicles and animated airside elements bring the airport to life, accompanied by 3D-modelled travellers, crew, and ground staff. A static Cessna Grand Caravan Amphibian, operated by Fly Red Sea, mirrors real-world operations to simulate seaplane services. The surrounding landside area includes car parks, road systems, support buildings, and stand signage. In addition, Skydom has gone a step further by including the luxurious Sheybarah Island Resort, complete with its iconic stainless steel floating villas.
Skydom Digital Solutions plans to expand its portfolio with upcoming sceneries, including Mykonos, Dubai South (Al Maktoum), and Teterboro Airport. Red Sea International Airport is available now as a free download for X-Plane 12 via the developer’s website and is also planned for release on MSFS 2024 in the near future.
