TFDi Design announces MD-11 for P3D

TFDi Design has recently announced the development of their rendition of McDonnell Douglas MD-11 for Prepar3D v4 and Prepar3D v5. The development was first teased yesterday by posting a screenshot of the MD-11 landing gear at the TFDi Design Twitter page. It was not clear what aircraft type are the developers working on.

A few hours later, an announcement of the aircraft has been posted via the TFDi Design website making it clear, that the landing gear was from an MD-11. At the beginning of the post, it has been made clear, that there is no release date set yet, and that the aircraft announcement was made earlier than expected.

TFDi Design has learned a lot from the Boeing 717 rendition, and will aim for even more realistic simulation on the MD-11.

The similarities in the systems, as well as refined processes and technologies, will allow us to create something even the most experienced MD-11 crew and enthusiasts will enjoy.

When released, the aircraft will be compatible with Prepar3D v4 and Prepar3D v5. There is also a possibility, that the aircraft will be done for older platforms such as FSX or Prepar3D v3.

There has also been mentioned MSFS2020 compatibility, and it has been said, that the developers will monitor the development of the new platform and will do their best to support it. There is no official statement yet.

community help

As well as it was with the 717, the developers are putting out a call to all community members. Even though the developers have a good amount of reference material, the more they have, the better. If you have any of the following materials, please submit this form.

  • Aircraft reference documents (FCOM, FCTM, etc.)
  • Any aircraft photos (even of the most obscure items)
  • Sound clips (such as aural warnings, unique flight deck sounds, etc.)
  • Videos
  • Engine data (such as EPR charts/tables, fuel flow data, etc.)

other products

TFDi Design has also shared some details on other products and their development. The TFDi Design 717 will enter formal testing soon in the Prepar3D v5.

TrueGlass and RealLight are also plugins that should be compatible with Prepar3D v5 in the future, and the developer is still waiting for answers from Lockheed Martin to help them eliminate few issues.

PACX should get a version 1 released in three to six weeks featuring some “cool” features. This will end the Early Access phase of the product.

Regarding the smartCARS 3.X we should get more information when it’s available.

We are working on a few potential directions we can take the development to create the best possible product for our customers and their pilots.
