Airworthy Design Releases Saint Martin for MSFS

Airworthy Design has today taken to their social networks to announce the release of their first scenery for Microsoft Flight Simulator. First announced just three days after the initial release of the simulator, the scenery has been highly anticipated within the community.

Covering not only the airport on the island of Saint Martin, but the nearby Grand Case Airport as well, the scenery features over five thousand hand-placed objects, PBR implementation, detailed interiors, dynamic lighting and animation, custom ortho textures for the airport surroundings, or custom mesh for realistic terrain around the airports. The complete feature list can be found below.

The scenery can be purchased through SimMarket for approximately €16 excluding VAT. The developers are now awaiting Asobo to process their files in order to put the scenery to the in-game Marketplace.

Although the scenery has been ported over from X-Plane 11, every single asset has been revised and updated in order to fully use the potential of the new simulator. Based on the first post made by Airworthy Designs about MSFS development, we can now expect more South American airports to come.

As you might know, Airworthy Designs is not the only one developing the scenery of Saint-Martin Airport (TNCM). FlyTampa has also recently revealed their plans on developing the scenery. An article about that can be found here.

Saint Martin airport is very infamous for being one of the most dangerous airports in the world, the approach is quite challenging due to its location on the island, with a beach just a few metres from the runway, making it a thrilling yet dangerous spot to plane spot. The aircraft sees operation from major Airlines such as Air France and KLM, which mainly use A330’s to operate long haul flights from and to France.
