BSS Announces Upcoming Products, Fight Against Pirates, Promises to “Destroy Haters”

BlueSkyStar Simulation announced new XPlane 12 offerings and new policies intended to fight piracy and push back against trolls and harassment.

On February 17, 2026, BlueSkyStar Simulation (BSS) took to its Discord Server to announce a slate of upcoming payware products for X-Plane 12. The announcement included a host of new developments from BSS as well as new policies from the developer intended to fight piracy and push back against trolls and harassment.

Sound Packs and Project World Lights

The announcement included an overhaul of popular sound packs for the ToLiss A320 CEO and Hotstart CL650, as well as new sound packs with specifics coming at a later date. The developer also announced that Project World Lights (PWL) would be coming to its storefront in the coming days. PWL is described as an ambitious city-by-city overhaul of X-Plane’s default lighting, including meticulously hand-placed individual lights, which the developer claims more accurately reflect the feeling of flying at night.

The developer stated that PWL cities will sell for $10 each at retail. Additional cities will be made available as they are completed. BSS also stated that they will work directly with customers who request a specific city, with pricing and timeline to be determined on a case-by-case basis. Specific examples given included Istanbul, for which a user paid $80 to have done, and Antalya, for which BSS charged $55. Users who elect to fund the lighting development of a particular city will be granted an exclusive access window to the product before general release.

NeoV2 Delayed Due to Piracy

Despite earlier declarations that NeoV2, the atmospheric enhancement pack for X-Plane 12, had been canceled following user complaints about the product, BSS announced that NeoV2 would soon be available as a free upgrade for existing users. The much-anticipated release of NeoV2 has been delayed several times, with the developer giving no firm date for the launch.

The developer has alternated between development of NeoV2 and PWL, along with the somewhat controversial release of a set of atmospheric presets, which included a PDF document detailing how to tune Rex Simulation’s Atmos Core. BSS would defend the product, stating that selling a guide that relies on another add-on was a standard development practice, and that no user licenses had been violated.

BSS also stated that beginning with NeoV2, purchases from the BSS Store would be tied to a user’s email address. Users who share their purchases via piracy sites will be automatically banned from the BSS Store and Discord and lose access to their purchases. The exact mechanism by which these users will be identified was not detailed. The fight against piracy has been a sharp focus of BSS recently, with the developer stating that due to an increasing number of support requests from users who had not legitimately acquired the product, they would now require a proof of purchase before responding to any support requests.

The developer took the opportunity to announce that future updates to Neo, starting with NeoV3, will be released as paid upgrades due to an apparent lack of appreciation for the developer’s work. BSS has previously cited his abuse and mistreatment by customers and the endless stream of support requests from pirates and users who don’t read documentation, as justification for waves of Discord bans and delays and cancelations of upcoming products.

BSS has repeatedly denied accusations of pirating flight sim add-ons himself, insisting that he only uses piracy sites as a comprehensive catalog of available add-ons and to promote his own products.
