CSS 737-500 Update Released for MSFS 2020 and 2024

CSS Software releases update 1.9.0 for the 737-500 in MSFS 2020 and 2024, introducing virtual crew, SimBrief integration, new features, and system improvements.

CSS Software has released version 1.9.0 of its Boeing 737-500 for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024, introducing a wide range of new features, system improvements, and bug fixes aimed at enhancing both realism and overall usability.

One of the key additions in this update is the implementation of numerous custom simulator events. These allow users to assign a variety of cockpit functions, including MCP controls, lighting systems, radios, and other aircraft systems, to external hardware. This significantly improves compatibility with home cockpit setups and enables advanced functionality such as automatic frequency tuning with both default ATC and third-party solutions.

The update also introduces SimBrief integration via the CO-RTE function in the FMC, streamlining the flight planning process and aligning the aircraft more closely with real-world operations. In addition, a new virtual crew system has been added, where the first officer can assist with cockpit tasks and callouts, while the cabin crew manages lighting, doors, and in-flight announcements. Crew sound packs are fully customizable and can be tailored to specific airlines.

The cockpit has received several enhancements, including the addition of a takeoff card, animated checklists, custom sun visors, and the ability to hide the EFB. Further visual and functional improvements, along with new sound features such as boarding music and refined audio behaviour, contribute to a more immersive experience.

Version 1.9.0 also includes an extensive list of fixes and improvements. These address navigation data issues, FMC behaviour, autopilot-related problems, and various system inconsistencies. Additional refinements have been made to aircraft animations, lighting logic, and overall system performance, improving both stability and realism across all phases of flight. The update is now available via the developer’s official website and third-party stores, with the full changelog accessible on their Discord server and website. Further coverage will be published on FSNews as more information becomes available.
